Tau gets an upgrade! Retirement fund administration is now available

1 November 2020

We built Tau because we recognised an urgent need in the wealth industry for an administration solution that addressed the full breadth of their operational needs: investor record-keeping, broker management, web-based access, investment trading and financial management across a range of investment products. Now looking at the retirement fund industry we see many of the same needs have emerged, coupled with enormous pressure to reduce member costs and simultaneously improve service levels.

Today we are excited to announce Tau 5.38 with support for the administration of pension funds, provident funds, umbrella funds, group retirement annuity plans and similar retirement savings vehicles. With this release we have brought the automation and flexibility of our investment management platform to retirement administrators, along with added support for the specific needs of their industry.

With Tau 5.38 you can:

  • Manage complex retirement structures: Configure multiple funds under a retirement plan, offer different plans to different groups at an employer
  • Process member and employer contributions: Calculate expected contributions, deduct fees, automatically bulk and invest contributions
  • Simplify regulatory compliance: Tracks member contributions and investments in accordance with the South African Pension Funds Act and integrate with an reporting engines to automate regulatory and statutory reporting
  • Offer flexible investment products: Straight through investment processing for unitised and structured products and support for model / life stage portfolios
  • Maintain a single member record: Member records can transfer between employers and funds, maintaining a single record for as long as the member falls under your administration

The new features are available for use by all our clients from 1 November 2020 and we're looking forward to helping them leverage Tau to grow their retirement administration businesses in the future.
